Fire and Ice a poem by Robert Frost
FIRE AND ICE
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favour fire.
But if it had toperish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Robert Frost: (1874-1963) was born in San Francisco, California. His father WilliamFrost, a journalist, died when Robert was about eleven years old. His Scottish mother, Isabelle Moody, resumed her career as a schoolteacher to support her family. The family lived in Lawrence,Massachusetts, with Frost's paternal grandfather, William Prescott Frost, who gave Robert a good schooling. In 1892 Frost graduated from high school and attended Darthmouth College for a few months then droppedout and attended Harvard for two years. Over the next ten years he held a number of jobs including teaching Latin at his mother's school in Massachusetts. In 1894 the New York Independent publishedRobert's poem 'My Butterfly' and he had five poems privately printed. He then worked as a teacher and continued to write and publish his poems in magazines. In 1895 he married a former schoolmate,Elinor White and together they had six children.

FIRE AND ICE: Explanation
Some(meaning some mankind's prediction of how the world will end)
say the world will end in fire,(symbolizing desire)Some say in ice.(symbolising hate)
From what I've tasted of desire(leaving the reader to ponder whether his knowledge of hatred comes mostly from contemplation("I think I know") and not fromexperience)

I hold with those who favour fire.(to describe people who commit sins of desire, suggesting plurality and that sins of desire[passion] are more common than sins of hate)(perhaps his first choiceof the world ending/or dying)
 
But if it had to perish twice,(world ending twice/dying twice)
I think I know enough of hate

To say that for destruction ice(it stands for hate and how not...
