Analysis of Building to Sky

Photo by Sandros This picture draws you into it because the vertical lines of the
buildings have no origin. When the spectator looks at the photo it seems like thebuilding goes on forever. This photo is unique because the effect of the shiny walls against the sky sharpens the image. UIT the addition of the shine, the picture becomes mesmerizing in a way. The colorof the building works well with the lighter sky. They are good comparative colors. The “meaning” of the space could be interpreted in many ways depending on the viewer. It gives me the feeling of ajourney. This is because of its depth. It could represent a long journey because of the infinite wall and the space beyond it (the sky) could be the journey’s happy ending.

Analysis of Benches Thefictional aspect of the benches is the fact that they are upside down. This automatically changes the viewpoint of whoever is looking at the photo. Now the photo can be seen in the abstract. The colorsare very vivid, adding to the abstract nature of the photo. The symmetry and overpowering space that the sidewalk has in the picture allows the viewer to divide the photo into two. To some this makesit easier to analyze but perhaps not for all. It gives the overall sense of organization and control.

Analysis of “Gust of Wind” original and copy In Hokusai’s original “Gust of Wind” there is anoverall shadow of green which makes the photo feel cold. Perhaps the viewer feels the chill of the wind because of its color. In Jeff Wall’s “A Sudden Gust of Wind” the grey sky in the photo serves asthe green of the original photo to give a similar feeling to the viewer. The movement in both pieces is the biggest, most attention getting component. The movement commands the eye to follow thedisorganized movements of the papers, and to wonder where they are going.
