Why is it good to have free textbooks?
Throughout history, free textbooks have been criticized and praised by many, some people say that they are anti-pedagogical, even one time they were called"immoral" due they present sexual education.
Well I think they’re good. First of all because it is the only “tool” that is given to every kid in the country, no matter what kind of social class kidsare, free textbooks are present in every state, from little towns to big cities.
Free textbooks are more than just a tool; they are the link between children and learning, knowledge, between childrenand teachers, their illustrations are way too good to help kids to understand the topics that the book talks about, also the readings that free textbooks contain can be used as a tool to improve whatis called “reflective reading”.
Some people say that free textbooks are useless; I think that there is no bad book; we can always come out with something good from every book, besides if it is truethat some books do not have the complete topics that one child is supposed to learn we can apply the quote “better than nothing”, anyways, we cannot generalize because there are some free textbooksthat contains way too good information.
They are an AUXILIAR for teachers, here comes the point that we have to highlight, free textbooks have to be used just as a tool, as a complement that teachersuse to enrich their class, so free textbooks are good, the most important is the way they are used, and that depends on the teachers, they have to use another tools and whatever that teachers thinkthat can be useful and not only be based on the books because that is when the problem begins.
