FUTURE ¨WILL¨

To show the future in English, write the auxiliary verb “will”, to the sentence as shown:
He goes home in simple present becomes:
He will go home, in the future.

A less used form of the future is “shall”; It has the same meaning as “will”. It is used generally with the first person, singular and plural (I, we), and “will” is left to use with the rest ofthe pronouns.

Will, in front of any verb means that it is in future tense.

Examples:

I will go
You will go
He, she, it will go
We will go
You will go
The will go.

The use of “will” with the personal pronouns is:

I will
You will
He, she it will
We will
They willWill, can be contracted as “’ll”, for example:
l’ll help you = l will help you

l’ll l will
You’ll you will
She’ll she will
He’ll he will
We’ll we will
They’ll they will

Negative use of willTo use the negative form of the future “will” just write the word “not” behind it:

“I will not help you”.

Use of the negative form of “will”:

The negative form of “will not” is contracted as won´t, for example: I won´t help you = I

(The contracted for of the auxiliary verb “will” is used when we speak or write in informal situation).

* Will or won´t is used to: make predictions, example:
Tomorrow it will be sunny.
* When it is a spontaneous decision, example:
I think I’ll go out this evening
*To make a promise or to promise something. Example:
I’ll visit you next week
* To offer any kind of help, example
I’ll take your book.
* To ask someone to do something, example:
Will you collect my suit from the drycleaner’s please?
* It is also used with the expressions:
I’m sure + subject + will: example: I’m sure you’ll pass the test.
I expect + subject + will:example: I expect he’ll arrive late
Subject + will+ probably: example I’ll probably drive there.
I think + subject + will: example: I think I’ll stay in and watch TV this evening.


Another use of the verb WILL is the use of WH words to make questions, the structure is as follows: first we write the WH word*, then the personal pronoun, the verb and a complement. Example:

* (You/ ask /him) will you ask him?



*WH words can be: what, when, where, who, why, how, etc.
