Holi, The Festival Of Colors
Holi is the Festival of colors that celebrate in the India in the spring in the days of the full moon. Is one of the most important festivals in India. Holiday is a festival of happiness and friendship because of the colour. The message of this festival is forget the problem with the people and give the enemies welcome.
The people wear whiteclothes and throwing powders of colors and water in the body for dye. This celebration last three days, beginning when is full moon.
On the first day or also called Holika Dahan that is anextremely popular tradition and is celebrated with fervor all across the country. In this day is the burning of the devil woman Jolika in huge bonfires at night. This symbolizing the triumph of thegood over evil. On the second and third day the people day pass throwing themselves powders of colors.
The Play of colors cause a great excitement that can be seen in people when it is actuallythe time of the play of colors. everyone paints his face and hair color. Spraying colors on one another and throwing water balloons. Songs and dance on the rhythm of delicious meals, this arethe other highlights of the day.
The women cook for the family typical food, guyija (meats pie), papad (French fries) and mathri papri or malpuas (sopaipillas) and also delicious thandai(roastedmilk). The festival ends with the family dinner together in communion.
We chose this festival because it represents friendship, fun, romance, brotherhood and important values to considerin our lives.
