Holy week

HOLY WEEK
In Christianity, Holy week is the last week of Lent, and the week before Easter or resurrection Sunday. Holy week begins on 1st April 2012 and ends on 7th April 2012. Holy weekcommemorates and enacts the events of Christ’s last week before his death through various observances and services of worship. Along with Easter, this week is the most sacred part of the Christian calendar,because it’s the celebration of death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God whose sacrifice took away the sins of the world.
In most churches, the decorations are red to symbolize the bloodof martyrdom. Some churches remove all decorations on Good Friday, veiling anything that can’t be removed in black. 
Holy Week is the same in the eastern and western Church, but since easternChristians use the Julian Calendar to calculate Easter, the celebrations occur at different times. However, the following events in the week before Easter are the same, east and west, relative to the date ofEaster:
* Palm Sunday (or Passion Sunday): the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem.
* Holy Thursday (or Maundy Thursday): the institution of Communion and the betrayal by Judas.
* GoodFriday: the arrest, trial, crucifixion, death and burial of Jesus Christ.
* Holy Saturday: the Sabbath on which Jesus rested in the grave.
* Triduum (Latin for “three days”): the time from sundownon Holy Thursday with Eucharist to sundown on Easter Day with evening prayers.
We have our different ways of observing Holy Week. Aside from churches, the place where one would probably see the mostnumber of people during Holy Week is the beach. While the Catholic Church understands that families are looking at the holidays as an opportunity to take a vacation and bond, the faithful, however,are not excused from performing their religious obligations. I think even if we are on vacation mode, we can still find time to go to church.
