He was born on September 25, 1952 in New York (USA) Christopher Reeve was the son of journalist Barbara Johnson and Professor Franklin Reeve. Barbara and Christopher Franklin would divorce when shewas only four years. In legal custody of her mother, traveled to New Jersey with his younger brother Benjamin (born 1953) to reside in Princeton.
Christopher focused his skills performing at a youngage, acting in theater groups and studying at Cornell and at Juilliard. In this last center shared an apartment with Robin Williams as a teacher and had more or less than the very John Houseman,co-founder with Orson Welles's Mercury Theatre.
After working in numerous stage productions during the 70's, coming to share the stage with Katharine Hepburn in the play "A Matter of Gravity", and ontelevision, appearing since 1974 in the series "Low of life", Reeve was selected for play the comic book hero "Superman" (1978), undergoing a successful film directed by Richard Donner.
Prior to thepremiere of "Superman", which occurred in late 1978, Christopher made his debut in film with "Red Alert: Sunken Neptune" (1978), film starring Charlton Heston.
In 1977 he began a relationship with modelGame Exton, with whom he had two sons, Matthew and Alexandra. The couple would break in 1987.
Christopher Reeve again embody the Man of Steel in "Superman II" (1980), "Superman III" (1983), bothdirected by Richard Lester, and "Superman IV" (1987) by Sidney J. Furie. Apart from his appearances as Superman, Christopher continued to work in the theater, starring in TV movies, where Vronsky came toplay a version of "Anna Karenina", and participating in other films like "The Death Trap" ( 1982), a film co-starring Michael Caine and directed by Sidney Lumet, "Monsignor" (1982) Frank Perry or "TheBostonians" (1984), adapted from Henry James by James Ivory.
