Simple Present, Present Progressive, Simple Past & Past Progressive.

Is used to describe habitual actions that occur with some frequency & it doesn’t refer if it is happening at the moment.

There’re two rules for third person:

1. If theverb ends in “SS”, “SH”, “CH”, “O” or “X” we just add “ES”.
2. If the verb ends in “Y” we remove it & put an “I” & add “ES”


Present Progressive.

Is formed by the combination ofthe verb “to be” with the –Ing- on a verb. In English the present progressive can be used to describe what is hapenning at the moment or what will happen on a near future. We can use it to talk abouttemporary actions.

Form:

+ To be (Am, is, are ) + Verb + Ing + Complement
_ To be in negative form ( A not, Isn’t, aren’t ) + Verb + Ing + Complement
¿? To be + Pronoun + Infinitive + Ing +Complement + ?

Examples:

She is watching TV.
She isn’t watching TV.
Is she watching TV ?

I’m studying now.
I’m studying with my friend tonight.
Am I studying with my friend tonight ?You’re eating onions.
You aren’t eating onions.
Are you eating onions ?

Simple Past.

The simple past expresses an action in the past taking place once, never, several times. It can also be usedfor actions taking place one after another or in the middle of another action.

For the regular verbs we just add “ED”, When it ends in “Y” we remove it & put an “I” & add “ED”

Form:+ Pronoun + Verb in past + Complement
_ Pronoun + Didn’t + Verb + Complement
¿? Did + Pronoun + Verb + Complement + ?

Examples:

She went to the mall yesterday.
She didn’t go to the mallyesterday.
Did she go to the mal yesterday ?

You played the guitar the last week.
You didn’t play the guitar the last week.
Did you play the guitar the last week ?
