Identidad Canadiense
As regards Canada, its cultural mosaic which has been growing and developing for centuries form the basis of its identity: not only as refers to the incoming habits and practicesin cultural terms but to the national personality needed to accept and promote this multiculturalism.
If we go back in time we will find that the origin of the cultural mosaic are the First Nations,those aboriginal tribes who landed in Canada thousands of years ago and lived on farming, herding or fishing depending on the area they dwelled. Long after the First Nations settlement Europeans beganto arrive to Canada’s shore attracted by its abundance of fish; but it wasn’t until the seventeenth century that France colonized it; Soon after England, concerned with the potential commerce, alsoarrived to Canada. 1756 is a turning point in the nation’s history as it began the seven year’s war between France and England for the dominion of Canada, the result of the conflict was the withdrawn ofthe French colony though many people remained there. I said it was a turning point because the feeling born from the quarrel between these two nations is a key fact of Canada’s present identity.Besides, the settlement of French people into Quebec and their struggle for independence and maintenance of their language and culture is also an important feature in the current nation'smulticulturalism.
