1.6 Development Level.
1.6.1 HDI.

Nowadays Japan is one of the countries that present high human development level. Because of the rapid growth that this country has presented since they rose from several conflicts after 1945 they have been capable of improving in many aspects.

Between 1980 and 2007 Japan's HDI rose by 0.29% annually from 0.887 to 0.960 today. HDI scores in all regionshave increased progressively over the years (Figure 1.6.1) although all have experienced periods of slower growth or even reversals.

The HDI for Japan is 0.960, which gives the country a rank of 10th out of 182 countries with data (Table 1.6.1).

1.6.2 Purchasing Power.Japan's figures for final household consumption expenditure are among the highest for the major developed nations. The level of discretionary expenditure is high and consumer demand is substantial, with a significant share of expenditure occurring in the areas of education and entertainment, transport, and communications.

In Figure 1.6.2, the Per capitahousehold consumption expenditure of Japan is the 3rd place in the world, this means that people in Japan have a very strong purchasing power and this turns the country in a great place to invest, or in our case to export.

In Figure 1.6.2.2 we observe how the purchasing power has behaved in the last 30 years. Itpresents a constant growth with a few exceptions, in the last years the effects of the world crisis affected this valuation as it did with many other indexes in many other countries.

The previous charts demonstrate with real numbers that Japan is one of the best options to invest and export in many kinds of markets and industries. Their economy and markets have been very solid and dynamic and allowus to present more advantages in the development of our project.

1.6.3 Unemployment.
Japan's unemployment rate settled at the lowest level in 10 months, reflecting more stability in the Japanese economy.
