Els articles (The articles)
Els articles en anglès són: a/an i the.
A / an L’article indeterminat a/an equival en català a un, una. S’utilitza davant de noms
en singular, mai davant de noms en plural. L’article a s’utilitza quan la paraula següent
comença per consonant i an quan la paraula següent comença per vocal. Per exemple: acar , an apple. Fem servir aquest article quan no volem especificar a quin objecte ens
referim.
Recorda:
a + paraula començada en so consonàntic ex. a computer
an + paraula començada en vocal ex. an orange, an exercise
Exemples: There is a book on the table.(=Hi ha un llibre a sobre de la taula)
There is an elephant in the Zoo.
The L’article determinat the equival en català a el, la, elsi les. Fem servir aquest article
quan ens volem referir a un objecte o objectes determinats.
The boy (el noi) The boys (els nois)
The girl (la noia) The girls (les noies)
Exemples:The film that I saw yesterday was very funny. (=La película que vaig veure ahir
era molt divertida.)
This is the T-shirt that I bought last week. (Aquesta és la samarreta que vaig comprar la
setmana passada.
Enaquests casos ens estem referint a coses concretes i és per aixó que fem servir
l'article determinat “the”.
Alguns exemples més per veure la diferència entre l'article indeterminat (a, an) I l'article
determinat (the).
There is a cat in the street. (Hi ha un gat al carrer)
The cat that I have at home is very small. (El gat que tinc a casa és molt petit)

Són els números que expresan la quantitat de coses.

Són els números que expressan l'ordre de les coses.

Els números ordinals es fan servir per parlar de l'ordre de les coses. Equivalen a
primer,segon,tercer..
En anglès ,a diferènciadel català,els números ordinals es fan servir per les dates.Per dir
el meu aniversari és el 21 de maig, en anglès es faria servir el número ordinal.
Exemple: “My birthday is on the twenty-first of May. “ (21st of May)
Per dir ,jo vaig neixer el 30 de setembre,en anglès es dirà:”I was born on the thirtieth of
September.”(30th)

Però la resta són pràcticament iguals però acabats en -th. : fourth=4th, tenth=10th...
