500 PESOS BILL

In August 31th started to circulate a new five hundred pesos bill.

The bill had modifications in it size, in it design and securitymeasurements.

The bill has 14.8 centimeters of large and 6.6 centimeters of tall.

In the front of the bill is the face of the Mexican painter and muralist; Diego Rivera(1886-1957).
The picture that is showed it’s based in a self portrait.

In the center of the bill appears a part of one of his paints called: “Nude with gannets”.In the bill also it can be read a Diego Rivera’s famous phrase:

“It have been said that the revolution doesn’t need the art, but that the art needs therevolution. That’s not true, the revolution needs a revolutionary art.”

In the reverse of the bill is the face of the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo (1907-1954). The pictureshowed it’s based on a self portrait.


Also appears one of her paints, “The universe’s love huge, the earth (Mexico), Me, Diego and the Lord Xolotl”.

This bill ismade of a material of cotton paper, and the predominant color of the bill is brown.

To fight the bill’s illegal falsification, the bank of Mexico adds to the billa few security elements to differentiate a false bill than a real one.
