(Stratford on Avon, United Kingdom, 1564, id., 1616) English playwright and poet. Three of the eight children of John Shakespeare, a wealthy merchant and local politicianand Mary Arden, whose family had suffered religious persecution arising from his Catholic faith, little or nothing is known about the childhood and adolescence of WilliamShakespeare.

Seems likely to study in the Grammar School in his hometown, although it is unknown how old and in what circumstances. According to a contemporary of his,William Shakespeare learned "small Latin and less Greek", and in any case seems also likely to leave school early because of the difficulties that his father was goingthrough, whether they derived from their economic or political career

From 1600, Shakespeare's great tragedies and publishes calls "dark comedy." The major issues areaddressed in the works of this period with the accents more ambitious, yet tragic always arises realistic detail or character penetrating psychological treatment that inducesthe viewer to identify with him: well, Hamlet reflects the inability to act with the moral dilemma between revenge and forgiveness; Othello, cruelty free of jealousy, andMacbeth, the cruel temptations of power.

In his later work, from 1608, registration changes and into the genre of tragicomedy, often with a happy ending in whichglimpses the possibility of reconciliation, as in Pericles. Shakespeare in life just published 16 works attributed to him, which is why some of them might have been lost notpublished (a few years after the poet's death) the Folio, volume compilation that would form the basis for all later editions.
