NATURALEZA Y DIMENSIONALIDAD DE LA RELACIÓN DE LA VARIABLE ESTILO DE LIDERAZGO CON LA VARIABLE DESARROLLO ESPIRITUAL
EN LOS PASTORES ADVENTISTAS EN LIMA
METROPOLITANA, EN EL 2009

Abstract
In the present study it is sought to determine the nature and dimensionality of the relationship of the variable constituted by a leadership style (transformational,transactional, and laissez faire) and the spiritual development variable (conscience about God, realistic acceptance, disillusion, greatness, instability, impression management) in the Adventist pastors from Lima city, in 2009. This research is cross-sectional and correlational, because it is performed in a precise moment, and studies the correlation between the leadership style variable and thespiritual development variable. In order to determine this relationship, a canonic correlational test was used.
The canonic correlational test between the variables in this research indicates that there is a significant relationship between the leadership style variable (transformational, transactional, and laissez faire) and the spiritual development variable (conscience about God, realisticacceptance, disillusion, greatness, instability, and impression management) in the Adventist pastors in Lima city.
When the canonic correlation test was performed between the research variables, it arrives to a conclusion that there is a significant relationship between the leadership style variable (transformational, transactional, and laissez faire) and the spiritual development variable (conscienceabout God, realistic acceptance, disillusion, greatness, instability, impression management) in the Adventist pastors in Lima city. This means that the leadership, in the pastoral ambit, definitely is being influenced by the spiritual life of a leader, therefore, pastors’ preparation for a leadership must consider the quality of a relationship with God and the perception that one has about God.
Insecond place, the study shows that the transformational leadership, considered more effective in the pastoral exercise, is significantly correlated with the conscience about God sub variable, which is a sample of a positive dimension of a relationship with God, personal communication with Him, and the sense of God’s presence acting in their lives. In this way, the transformational leadership hasa relationship with the impact of an effective spiritual life.
In third place, the transactional leadership, understood as cost-benefit interchange leadership, also significantly relates with the conscience about God sub variable. This type of leadership takes distance from the transformational leadership, because it makes use of religion in order to obtain personal advantages.
Finally, it canbe affirmed that the spiritual development variable (conscience about God, realistic acceptance, disillusion, greatness, instability, and impression management), does not influence in the laissez faire leadership type, which is distinguished by the absence of direction and control.

* Antecedentes
Se han desarrollado cuatro perspectivas sobre las teorías del liderazgo: derasgos, conductual, situacional-contingencial (Hersey y Blanchard, 1969) y transformacional (Bass, 1985). Aunque las primeras tres teorías y paradigmas de liderazgo tienen el respaldo de múltiples estudios, en las últimas dos décadas del siglo XX la teoría de liderazgo transformacional ha captado el interés de muchos investigadores (Judge y Bono, 2000), superando ampliamente al liderazgo transaccional.El modelo transaccional de liderazgo de Hollander (1978), se basa en el modelo denominado "Unión Bivalente Vertical", liderazgo basado en un intercambio de relaciones entre el líder y los subordinados y viceversa.
