The knight in rusty armor.
once a long time ago, in a land far away, there lived a knight who thought he was good, kind, and loving. He did all the things that good, kind, and loving knights do. He fought enemies who were bad, mean and hateful.
He killed dragons and rescued pretty damsels in problems. When the knight was bored, he had the annoying habit of rescuing damsels, even if they didnot want to be rescued. So, although many ladies were very thankful to him, many others were furious with him.
He accepted this philosophically. After all, you can´t please everybody.
This knight was very famous for his armor. It reflected bright rays of light that villagers said they had seen the sun rise in the north or the sun set in the east, every time they saw the knight rode off to battle. And he rode off to battle very frequently.
With the only mention of a crusade, the knight would quickly put on his shiny armor, mount his horse, and ride off in any direction. He was so anxious, in fact, that sometimes he would ride off in many directions at the same time, which is not something easy to do.
For many years this knight competed to be the number one knight in the entire kingdom. There was always another battle to win, dragons to kill, or damsel to rescue. This knight had a beautiful, faithful and even a little tolerant wife, her name was Juliet, who wrote beautiful poetry in the afternoons, spoke smart words, but recently she had started to develop a bad habit, a defect : she liked to drink wine almost every day.
The knight also had a young, blonde son : Christopher, whohe hoped would like to grow up to be a brave knight, just like his father was.
Juliet and Christopher saw the knight very little, because when he was not fighting battles, killing dragons, and rescuing damsels, he was completely busy ….putting on and ….putting off his armor and admiring its shine. As time went on, the knight became so in love of his armor that he began to wear it to eat ordinner, and often, to go to bed.
After some time, he didn´t care to take off his armor at all. Gradually, his family started to forget how he looked without it.
Occasionally, Christopher asked his mother what his father looked like. When this happened, Juliet took the boy to the chimney of the house and pointed with her finger to a picture of the knight. ``there is your father, ´´
AND THE SHE CRIED.ONE AFTERNOON, WHILE CONTEMPLATING THE PORTRAIT, CHRISTOPHER SAID TO HIS MOTHER, ‘’I WISH I COULD SEE FATHER IN PERSON.’’

‘’YOU CAN’T HAVE EVERYTHING!’’ SAID JULIET, ANGRY. SHE WAS GETTING IMPATIENT WITH HAVING ONLY A PAINTING TO REMEMBER HER HUSBAND’S FACE, AND SHE WAS SICK AND TIRED, BECAUSE HER HUSBAND DIDN’T LET HER SLEEP AT NIGHT FOR THE CLANKING OF THE ARMOR.

WHEN HE WAS AT HOME, ANDNOT COMPLETELY WORRIED ABOUT HIS ARMOR, THE KNIGHT USUALLY SPOKE OFFENSIVE MONOLOGUES ABOUT HOW GREAT HE WAS COMPARED TO ALL THE OTHER KNIGHTS IN THE KINGDOM. JULIET AND CHRISTOPHER WERE TIRED OF LISTENING TO THESE SELFISH STORIES. WHEN JULIET OR CHRISTOPHER ASKED THE KNIGHT TO SPEAK ABOUT SOMETHING DIFFERENT, HE ABRUPTLY CLOSED HIS VISOR OR IMMEDIATELY WENT TO SLEEP, OUTRAGED.

ONE DAY, JULIETCONFRONTED HER HUSBAND. ‘’MY LOVE, I THINK THAT YOU LOVE YOUR ARMOR MORE THAN YOU LOVE ME.’’

-‘’THAT’S NOT TRUE!’’ ANSWERED THE KNIGHT,

-‘’DIDN’T I LOVE YOU ENOUGH TO RECUE YOU FROM THAT DRAGON AND BRING YOU HERE TO THIS GREAT CASTLE MADE OF QUARRY STONE?’’

‘’WHAT YOU LOVED, -SAID JULIET (SEARCHING THROUGH HIS VISOR TRYING TO FIND HIS EYES)- ‘’WAS THE IDEA OF RESCUING ME. YOU DIDN’TREALLY LOVE ME BACK THEN, AND YOU DON’T REALLY LOVE ME RIGHT NOW.’’

‘’NAH! I DO LOVE YOU, ‘’INSISTED THE KNIGHT, AND HUGGED HER CLUMSILY WITH HIS COLD, STIFF ARMOR AND ALMOST BREAKING HER RIBS.

‘’THEN, TAKE OFF THAT ARMOR SO THAT I CAN SEE WHO YOU REALLY ARE!’’ SHE DEMANDED.

‘’I CAN’T TAKE IT OFF. I HAVE TO BE READY TO MOUNT MY HORSE AND RIDE OFF IN ANY DIRECTION’’, EXPLAINED THE KNIGHT....
