SCENE 1

Woman wants to go to church. She appears on the scene after being beaten by husband.
Mother Monologue Prayer – Father leaves

(Woman appears crying; not projecting an oppressive spiritas she is hurt physically but not spiritually; she keeps her faith in God and this is echoed in her words. Her clothing is ripped, blood on her face and dark make up for dramatic effect but althoughher clothing is ripped they are not too old. In the monologue, she takes out a bible that she had in a pocket which represents that in fact she is believing God for change and trusting in His Word.SCENE 2

Children enter, pick her up and clean her face. They exit for church. Daughter’s thoughts are heard. (what does this consist of?, meaning are we writing out the words now. I am suggestingthat the main points to be highlighted are:
* The abuse that her mother goes through
* A bit frustrated but at the same time indifferent
* Wants to get an education but the family hasevident financial issues
* Heard about God but not too committed

Intercessor closes the prayer meeting by stating “Hold on to God” “Your present trouble is small and willnot last for very long”.
They leave for home.

SCENE 3

Father and son are in the garden. The emphasis is on work.

Father : Your grandparents was the owners of this land, when they died itbecame mine’s and one day I
will do the same and pass it on to you. But you have to work hard because nothing else matters. Forget
your Mother about this church and God thing. God does help those whodoes help themselves. So listen to me, spend your time in a garden, Don’t study no body and nothing else, even the Bible says “ A man shall live by the sweat of his brow”. So let your sweat fallthis land and everything will be alright. This is ALL that you have. It is all that you can see and trust, nobody else! Give your life to it.
