The Monkey and The Heart

Scared, that is what you feel when you read the Tell- Tale Heart and The Monkey’s Paw. Both stories give you the same scary feeling,but their main ideas are different. Tell Tale Heart is more realistic and The Monkey’s Paw is more magical.

In both stories the mood makes you feel intimidated and unsafe. In the Monkey’sPaw the main character makes a wish and then strange noises start to sound. (In the story says), “ Outside, the wind was higher than ever and the old men stared nervously at the sound of the doorbanging upstairs.” When the author says this, the thought of something upstairs and coming down at any moment, appears. Then, in the Tell-Tale Heart the main character watches the old man sleep for manydays and one of those days the old men hears him come into his room, you know this because the main character (describes and says), “ The men sprang up in the bed crying out “Who is there?” For a wholehour I did not move a muscle and neither heard him lie down.” When he says this, it feels like the old man has passed all hour looking and waiting for something to move. These two parts make you feelscared because something is upstairs or it is looking at you while sleeping.
The main characters are really different. In the Monkey’s Paw it is a normal guy who wants to wish for somethingusing the paw, so he says he wants is. In the moment that Morris is going to throw the paw into the fire the main character says, “If you don’t want it Morris, give it to me.” In the other story the maincharacter is crazy, and he knows he is but he doesn’t want to admit it. He says, “I heard many things in hell. How, then, am I mad?” He is saying that he hears things in hell, but still was doubt ofbeing crazy or not.
Characters in both stories face consequences as a result of their actions. In The Monkeys Paw they wished for more money and they got the money but the consequence was losing...
