Oscar Niemeyer

December 15, 1907
Oscar Niemeyer was born in Rio de Janeiro .
His family has different origins for example, Portuguese, Arabic and German.
1928
He got married with Annita Baldo that came from Italy. He had a bohemian life but after he got married he started to assume his responsibilities and started working for his father typography and then began his studies in the National School obbeautiful arts.

1932
He started his proffesional career working at the studio of Lucio Costa and Carlos Leon in his third year of school because he fel the need of obtain a job in a construction firm to gain experience and understand architecture better.
However he did not want to adapt to a commercial architecture, instead he worked for free because his interest was to be a good architect* In 1936 Niemeyer was assigned to be the architect of the new headquarters for the Ministry of Education and Public Health in Rio de Janeiro. In 1939, Niemeyer assumed the leadership of the team of architects, with  Le Corbusier acting as a consultant responsible for the Ministry that had assumed the task of shaping the new man, Brazilian and modern.
Ministry of Education and PublicHealth:Niemeyer collaborated with the hight of the columns, since he was still learning he was able just to help with a little detail. However the monumentality of the spaces is one of the things that characterize the building today an here is where Niemeyer began to be famous.
1938Oscar Niemeyer travelled to New York with Lucio Costa and a group of brazilian architects for the elaboration and design ofthe Brazilian Pavilion in the international fair of New York.
1940 Niemeyer had the chance to meet Juscelino Kubitschek, who mas the mayor of Belo Horizonte and the person who offered him the Pampulha project.
1945 Niemeyer joined the Brazilian communist party and in 1992 he became the president of the party
Pampulha project
* The Pampulha project consisdet in a new sububur forentertainment to the north of the city called Pampulha and Niemeyer was assigned to design a series of buildings to be known as the Pampulha complex. The first listed was the modern monument Church of Saint Francisco de Assisi. The complex also included a casino, a dance hall a restaurant, yacht club, golf club all distributed around the artificial lake.
* Niemeyer’s became famous and he was selected togo to the United States to be part of the international team working on the design for the headquarters of the United Nations in New York. By pressure of Le Corbusier they combined elements from Niemeyers and him in the design, however Niemeyers predominated.

* In the 1950’s Niemeyer’s first book was published in the United States called the Work of Oscar Niemeyers

* In Brazil, SaoPaulo he designed Ibirapuera Par for the anniversary of the city’s 400th anniversary.
* Ibirapuera Park is a major urban park, it has a large area for leisure , jogging, walking and it has also a convention center. Its importance to Sao Paulo equals the importance of Central Park to New York or the 101 to Taipei.

Copan Apartment Building
* This building is a 140-metre 38-storyresidential building in Sao Paulo. Construction began in 1957 and completed in 1966, because the construction was interrumpted. It is one of the largest buildings in Brazil and has the largest floor area of any residential building in the world.

JK building
* The Jk building is the tallest building in Belo Horizonte, Brazil and it is named for one of the presidents of Brazil, JuscelinoKubitcschek . It has 40 stories tall and it is the third tallest building in Brazil after the Italia Building (45 stories) and Mirante do Vale (51 stories).

* Niemeyer designed his own house in Rio de Janeiro the House at Canoas He was worried because he wanted the fallow the flora to enter the house to interact with it and at the same time not to have too much solar light inside the house....
