This new society involves a change in our lives and the way we see the world. Many things
have been reconfigured: work systems, ways of learning, access to culture, waysof enjoyingour
free time and relationships between people. This change in human life has a characteristic that
contrasts this stage of the humanity with others. The differenceis the speed and manner in
which communications and relations with the other happen. The communication is swift,
immediate, eluding physical distances. This leading to theinterrelationships be massive, and
most of the time, virtual, without the physical presence of the other.
The pace of life has accelerated and there is a trend toward what we cancall
"immediacy." Everything must be "right now". No doubt the development of the technology and
the media created a tool that enhances, speed up and facilitates many aspects ofhuman life.
But on the other hand, we would have to reflect on what happens with the constant need to see
things done right away, the need to see and know things immediately, andthe anxiety,
frustration and boredom that is generated when they do not.
Also with the concept and value of the "new." Things that are new, the novelty, has value
in itssole condition of novelty or its content?
There is a change in the speed and the time in which things are delivered. This has
consequences both socially and individually. What isthe place for those ones
who can’t reach such speeds in the society?
Faster communication means efficient communication? Does faster communication allows us
time for reflection?
