WHAT IS THE SOLUTION TO END POVERTY IN COLOMBIA?

INTRODUCCION

Colombia is still far from winning the fight against poverty, is the only country in Latin America where the gap between rich and poor has grown in recent years, according to a report of the Economic Commission for Latin America

* Colombia aún está lejos de ganarla lucha contra la pobreza, es el único país en América Latina en donde la brecha entre ricos y pobres ha incrementado en los últimos años, según un informe de la Comisión Económica para América Latina

FACTS

Over 20 million people live in poverty in Colombia and more than 8 million in indigence, which means that about 30 million people , that is say, forty-six percent (46%) of thepopulation lack sufficient resources to enjoy a decent living in the country

* Más de 20 millones de personas viven en la pobreza en Colombia y más de 8 millones en la indigencia, lo que significa que alrededor de 30 millones de personas, es decir, cuarenta y seis por ciento (46%) de la población carecen de recursos suficientes para disfrutar de una vida digna en el país

PROBLEMS

There is astark reality that cannot be ignored is that in Colombia there are high levels of poverty despite having increased security and strong economic growth. Undoubtedly, the country has failed to significantly alleviate poverty that helps fuel the armed conflict and drug trafficking

* existe una cruda realidad que no se puede desconocer y es que en Colombia existen altos niveles de pobreza a pesarde poseer mayor seguridad y un fuerte crecimiento económico. Indudablemente Colombia no ha podido aliviar de manera significativa la miseria que ayuda a alimentar el conflicto armado y el tráfico de drogas.

This situation generates a lot of social inequality that we see reflected every day in everything that happens in our country.

* Esta situación genera mucha desigualdad social quevemos reflejada a diario en todo lo que sucede en nuestro país.

Because the unemployment rate is high, common crime has increased, the micro-trafficking of drugs, begging, criminal gangs, insurgents, prostitution and other factors

* Debido a que la tasa de desempleo es alta, ha aumentado la delincuencia común, el microtráfico de drogas, la mendicidad, bandas criminales, grupos insurgentes,prostitución entre otros factores.

SOLUTION

From my point of view, the solution is complicated, but can improve the lives of Colombians.

* Desde mi punto de vista, la solución al problema es complicada, pero se puede mejorar las condiciones de vida de los colombianos.

The government should invest more in social policies to all Colombians, have free access to higher education, theunemployed should receive an allowance until they find employment, should be punished heavily corrupt people who steal the money of the nation rather of investing in people in need

* El gobierno debe invertir más en políticas sociales para que todos los colombianos tengan acceso gratuito a la educación superior, los desempleados deben recibir un subsidio hasta que encuentren empleo, se debecastigar fuertemente a las personas corruptas que se roban el dinero de la nacion en vez de invertirlo en las personas necesitadas.
