DIFFERENT TYPES OF CONTAINERS AND THEIR CHARACTERISTICS

Is called a packing container used to transport large bulky or heavy objects: engines, machinery, small vehicles, etc. It is alsoknown by its English name, container.

The containers are usually made mostly of steel cut, but there are also some other aluminum and plywood reinforced with fiberglass. In most cases, the floor iswood, although there are some bamboo. Interior is specially coated anti-moisture, to prevent moisture during the trip. Another defining feature of the containers is the presence in each of itscorners, for twistlocks accommodations that allow them to be snagged by special cranes and their lashing both ships and trucks.

Types of containers

• Dry Van: are the standard containers. Sealedand without cooling or ventilation.

• High Cube: standard containers of 40 feet mostly its main feature is its about height (9.6 feet).
[pic] [pic]• Reefer: Refrigerated containers of the same measures as the aforementioned (40 feet) but have a system for keeping the cold or heat and thermostat. Must be connected to the ship and the terminal, evenin the truck if possible or an external generator, operate under three-phase current. Some of the brands that are dedicated to manufacturing: Carrier, Mitsubishi, Termoking.

• Open Top: the same measures as above, but open at the top. You can excel the goods but in this case, supplements are paid according to how much charge has ceased to charge for this excess.• Flat Rack: also lack the side walls and even, cases, front and rear walls. They are used to pay charges and supplements atypical in the same way that the open top.
