Step 1. Choosing a Topic (from the topic bank given by the teacher)
Step 2. Narrowing the Topic (choose your own topic)
Step 3. Formulate yourresearch question.

Step 4. Consider multiple audiences and purposes.
Who is my audience? Who will I talk to? What kind of language will I need to use? Whatis my point of view? And, what kind of reaction do I expect from my audience?
Step 5. Make a research plan: find authoritative sources, evaluate them, and distinguish the types of sources to beused.
Step 6. Collect data: keep track of multiple sources, take notes of the main facts or details you will use. Be careful not to commit PLAGIARISM. Write the web sites, name of books and editorials ofwhere you found the info.
Step 7. Make sure you are citing all your research information that is not common knowledge, and cite it according to a standard format.
Use quotations: “the text here”(the person who wrote o said it). Use footnotes and numbers [1].

As you write your draft orprepare your notes for an oral presentation, remember to keep your audience in mind.
