The King

Elvis Aaron Presley was one of the most popular American singers of the 20th century. Is widely known as “the king of rock and roll” or just “the king”.
Born on January 8, in tupeloMississippi, Elvis moved at age 13 with his family to Memphis Tennessee, he started his artistic career in 1954, when the owner of Sun Records, was on the way to expand the African-American music.Accompanied by guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black was one of the originators of rockabilly, an up-tempo style driven by a constant rate that is a fusion of country music and rhythm and blues.
Thefirst single with this company, "Heartbreak Hotel", published in January 1956, became a number one hit. Soon after his appearances in the media, became the leading figure in the popular sound of rockand roll, with a series of television shows and hits that reached the top of the charts. In November 1956, he made his film debut with the film Love Me Tender.
On March 24, Presley was inducted intothe U.S. Army as a private at Fort Chaffee, near Fort Smith, Arkansas. His arrival was a major media event. Hundreds of people descended on Presley as he stepped from the bus; photographers thenaccompanied him into the base. Presley announced that he was looking forward to his military stint, saying he did not want to be treated any differently from anyone else: "The Army can do anything itwants with me."
His mother was diagnosed with hepatitis and her condition swiftly worsened. Presley, granted emergency leave to visit her, arrived in Memphis on August 12. Two days later, she died ofheart failure, aged 46. Presley was devastated; their relationship had remained extremely close even into his adulthood, they would use baby talk with each other and Presley would address her with petnames.
