HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONS

Listed below are a few of the licensed, certified, and registeree health care practiotioners who work with physicians, destinsts, and other professionals in providing services to patients in medical offices, dental offices, hospital, clinics, hospices, extended-care facilities, community programs, schools, and other health care settings.

1- ANESTHESIOLOGISTASSISTANT. The anesthesiologist assistant assists the anesthesilogist in developing and implementing an anesthesia cara plan. Duties can include preoperative and posporative tasks, as well as operating room assistance.

2- AUDIOLOGIST. Audiologists are educated in the science of hearing and are qualified to test patients´ hearing and to proscribe some types of therapy for hearing problems.

3.CARDIOVASCULAR TECHNOLOGIST. The cardiovascular technologist work under the supervision of physicians to perform diagnostic and therapeutic examinations in the cardiology (heart) and vascular (circulation) areas.

4. CYTOTECHNOLOGIST. Cytology is the study of the structure and function of cells. Cytotechologists work with phatologists to microscopically examine body cells in order to detect changesthat may help diagnose cancer and other diseases.

5, DENTAL HYGIENIST. Dental hygienists perform clinic and educational duties related to hygiene of the mouth and teeth, usually for dentist/employers within a dental office. They may work for one dentist or dental clinic or for several dentists at varying locations.

6. DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHER. The diagnostic medial sonographreadministers ultrasound examinations under the supervision of a physician responsible for the use and interpretation of ultrasound procedures.

7. DIETICIAN AND NUTRIONIST. Dieticians and nutrionists work closely whith physicians and other medical practitiones to educate and assist patients with special dietary and nutritional needs.

8. ECG TECHICIAN. Electrical activity of the heart is measured andrecorded by electrocardiographic equipment operated by ECG (electrocardiogram) techicians under the supervision of physicians.

9. EEG TECHICIAN AND TECHOLOGIST. Electroencephalography is the recording and study of the electrical activity of the brain. EEG (electroencephalogram) technicians and techologists work under the supervision of physicians ot operate EEG equipment used to perform patientdiagnostic tests.

10. EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHICIAN/PARAMEDIC. Emergency medial technicians, or paramedics, most often work from an ambulance or in a hospital emergency room, providing life-support care to critically ill and injured patients.

11- KINESIOTHERAPIST. Kinesilogy is the study of muscles and muscle movement. Kinesiotherapists work under a physician´s supervision, using therapeuticexcercise and education to treat the effects of disease, injury, and congetional disorders on body movement.

12. MEDICAL ASSISTANT. Medical assistans perform administrative and clinic duties for physicians/employers, usually within an ambulatory-care setting, such as medical office, clinic, or outpatient surgical center.

13. MEDICAL ILLUSTRATOR. Medical illustrator must be knowledgeable in thebiological sciences, anatomy, physilogy, pathology, general medical knowledge, and the visual arts. They create illustrations for science and medial texts and other publications, and they also function in administrative, consultative, and advisory capacities.

14. MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHICIAN AND MEDICAL TECHOLOGIST. Duties of medial technicians include performing simple tests in hematology,serology, blood banking, urinalysis, microbiology, and clinical chemistry. Medical techologists have completed a longer training course than laboratory techicians. They supervise technicians and assistans and perform more complicated analytical laboratory tests.
