The Pros and Cons of Videogames:
Throughout time people have needed any type distraction other than sports to spend their time. Thefirst type of distractions were mainly simple puzzles, board games or card games, but as technology progressed people began getting ideas and visions of how they could improve these simple games. Sothe first videogames were created and refined over time with better graphics, new consoles, simple controls, and of course more games. That is one of the reasons that videogames were created: to providefun and distraction, and that is one of the pros or benefits of videogames: they provide an escape from reality. An alternate world where you can be another person or character and complete tasksthat would normally be difficult in our tangible world. But this character adaptation is also one of the downfalls or cons of videogames, meaning too much immersion into your character. This means thatyou become too involved with the character you’re portraying and forget about your true self, thus performing your character’s actions. This immersion normally happens when you play Role Playing Gamesor RPGs where you basically build your version of a perfect character from scratch. But some good can come out since this character building can help build creative skills since you imagine detailsand facial characteristic about that person. Then again playing videogames too much can lead to some problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome which is caused by repetitive manual work (playing with thegame controllers too much). Having this syndrome can lead to pain, numbness, and other symptoms around the wrist. And the main problem that many people have with videogames is that it causes obesity ifplayed too much. This is in fact a studied problem with the exception of some Wii games, but even those games such as Wii Sports are not played how they are supposed to. All bad things aside some...
