1. National Qualifications Frameworks(NQF)

“ Are descriptive maps of the structure of qualifications within national education systems, designed to allow national level comparisons to be madeabout the equivalence of different qualifications ”
* A major international trend since the late 1990s.
* The initiative first started:---- English-speaking countries.

2.1 Purposesand Scope:
Development,classification and recognition of skills,knowledge and competencies along continuum of agreed levels.
* Progress from one level to another
* Include vocational andacademic qualifications.
Promoting Lifelong learning.
Quality Assurance and Recognition.
2.2 Distinctive NQF:

Germany
* Depends on the Länder or Federal States.
* Mostly public but alsoprivate.
* The max. score is: 1 and the worst 6, requiring 4 to pass.
Spain:
* Depends on the Goverment and the Autonomies.
* Public/private/State-funded.
* The max. Score is: 10 andthe worst is 1, requiring 5 to pass.

2. ISCED (International Standard Classification of Education):

* The reference classification for organizing educational programmes and relatedqualifications by education levels and fields.
* Is a product of international agreement and adopted formally by the General Conference of UNESCO Member States.

3.1 UNIT OF CLASSIFICATION:National (and sub-national) educational programme

2.2 An Educational programme is defined as a coherent set of:-EDUCATIONAL-ACTIVITIES-COMMUNICATION-LEARNING- ORGANIZED-SUSTAINED
2.2.1 ISCED 2011 covers formal and non-formal educational programmes offered at any stage of a person’s life.

*Non-formal:Education provider

2.3 The UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) is the custodian of ISCED and is thus responsible for:
