Summary (150 to 300 words)
This article is about how people can cheat in order to get something in a competition. It begins with Thomas’s experience a German track coach whowanted to get Repoxygen it helps people to improve their performance.With this experience nowadays people are trying to get new products for getting a medal; if it was effective, the experimental treatmentwould endow a patient with a gene that cranks EPO (Erythropoietin), a hormone that spurs the production of red blood cells. The athletes take advantage of it because there is no evidence of genedoping, but they also suggest it’s only a matter of time.One example of getting products for a victory is Myostatin, it provokes muscle growth in lab animals; even if they aren’t available for clinicaluse, they could be found in black markets.Embedded Technologies could be also an alternative for athletes to cheat; these articles could be masked in bodies. EAPs, for example, can increase an athlete’smuscle power.This new technology, in the future, can give athletes new ways for getting a medal and show people they are good in their areas; although, it doesn’t mean they did it in a good way. Thisis the reason why different companies are trying to find a way to discover drugs or equipment in buddies’ athletes.Also, some observers predict that these strategies could be affecting kids. In USA,an Anti-Doping Agency suspended a teenage in-line skater for doping; the father had been injecting him with growth hormone and steroids.Finally, The obsession of getting a medal could lead to findsuperathletes, with embryos generated through in vitro fertilization subjected to genetic tests for athletic traits.
