SCHOOLS KILL CREATIVITY

The English professor and writer Sir ken Robinson is very concerned about the way in which the adults and schools are forming and educating children. For this reason he wrote an article in which he talks about the importance ofcreativity of children. He says that creativity is as important as literacy and in public education teachers and directives do not give the importance that it deserves. Besides, He asserts that all education systems are the same; that they only care about subjects as maths and everywhere we go, it will be always the same matter. He talks about the story about a little girl of six years old who wasdrawing, the teacher asked her about what she was drawing and she answered: oh I am making a picture of god. Then teacher said, but how? Nobody has seen god. then she said, you will know in a minute. He gives another example about Guillian Lynne the famous ballet dancer who created the phantom of the opera and several musicals. She was criticized in school and teachers says that she was not going tobe successful, but one day, her parent took her to the specialist, who discovered that she had an incredible talent. Sir ken says that if it had happened nowadays, maybe she could have been seen as a crazy person, since the actual education system only measures the grades in the paper but not talents. For that, he affirms that the creativity is innate and the schools kill it, that every child isborn with a great level of talent and defines them as incredible artists. The real problem is that children do not keep their talents and loose them while they grow up. But it something has stayed and the child has grown up but still wants to follow his real dreams, teacher are in charge of killing his dreams saying that in that way or if he study that type of career ( for example if he wants to bea musician, a dancer or a painter), he will be nobody and will die poor without any expectations.in adittion, That he has to be focused and develop skills that permit him to enter to a good university and study a real career that helps him to form a good future. In contrast, sir ken Robinson says that a person or a child can be successful always; the trick is to discover which is his real talentbeginning for giving an existent value to his creativity and also comfort him to improve that fantastic quality that is in every child of the world.
TO REFLECT
For me this article is quite good since it makes me consider many aspects talking about education, and make me remember about personal experiences through my personal process of studying that have almost let my dreams broken and my optichas been blurred concerning with my education process .therefore I consider that is good to talk about the educational system here in Colombia due to the fact that it is the responsible of many matters that tip children to be poorely educated
One of the phases is the loss of creativity that can unleash many other negative factors as demotivation and hate for the subjects. Creativity asprofessor sir Robinson said is something so wonderful and great that all the doors can be wide open for us if we want. That is true. Creativity allows each child to see everything in a diverse mode, letting him to bring out new ideas, activities thoughts, which help others in the educational progression. Also, creativeness is an important key to succeed in today’s world for the reason that this improvesproblem solving, memory, decision making. Let´s think about an architect, what does he have to sort out to invent new models????. The answers are that he has to innovate, to surprise, to be creative and competitive. And In the case of a business administrator??.it is Similar. He necessitates to be creative in order to choose or takes better decisions. I am not affirming that inasmuch as children...
