SUBJECT DESCRIPTIONScience refers to a system of acquiring knowledge based on empiricism, experimentation, and methodological naturalism.
Science is a way of knowing, a process for gaining knowledge and understanding of the natural world. Students should be active learners. It is not enough for students to read about science; they must do science. They should observe, inquire, question, formulate and testhypotheses, analyze data, report, and evaluate findings. The students, as scientists, should have hands–on, active experiences throughout the instruction of the science curriculum.
Students will through the subject of science:
Observe, compare, classify, order, gather info, record, display, interpret data, use numbers, communicate, plan and conduct simple investigations, measure, predict, infer, drawconclusions, use time, space and relationships, hypothesize, formulate or use models, identify and control variables, and experiment basically in three main areas:
a) Life b) Earth c) Physical Science.
We will be covering units such as: A world of Living Things, Homes for Living Things, Our Earth, Weather and Space, Exploring Matter, and Energy and Motion.
The subject is appropriateto:
• Engage students in scientific inquiry.
• Develop their understanding of key concepts in the life and earth sciences.
• Present science in an interesting, clearly organized format.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES



• The student will be given the basic knowledge and necessary tools that he will require to understand the natural surroundings of where he lives.
• The studentwill learn about Earth and Physical Science in a variety of topics and sub-topics that will enable the student to interact with nature to understand in some ways how nature acts.
• The student will learn how care for our environment, the importance it has for us to have a better life.
• The student will learn about nature, living things, homes for the living things, and how to identify...
