Christopher Marlowe (baptized 26 February 1564 - † 30 May 1593) was a playwright, poet and translator delPeríodo Elizabethan English. Popularized blank verse incorporating it into his theater. It isconsidered the great predecessor of Shakespeare. There is currently a debate about its authorship in several works of the Bard.
Born in Canterbury. The son of a shoemaker, he studied at CorpusChristi College, Cambridge and obtained his Bachelor of Arts in 1584. Continuing his studies at Cambridge, in 1587, the university authorities denied a bachelor's degree because his long absences and rumor,according to which Marlowe had converted to Catholicism and had traveled to Reims to prepare his priesthood.
