c. Identify the relation between structure and theme in the sonnet.

3) Tropes and imagery
a.Identify metaphors and imagery related to the theme of the poem. Explain them.
b. What are general concerns of the speaker in the selected sonnets?

4) Translation
Read the translation of the sonnets by Auad and Mañé and the one by Montezanti.
a. What is their choice of dialect and register?
b. What effect do these choices have in the translation of Shakespeare’s poetry?
c. Why do you thinkthe different translators made those choices?

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:

O, no! it is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star toevery wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.]

Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.

If this be error and upon me proved,
     I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
No permitáis que ante la unión de espíritus fieles
Yoadmita impedimentos. No es amor el amor
que se altera cuando descubre cambios,
o tiende a separarse del que separa:

¡Oh, no! Es un faro inamovible
que mira las tempestades y nunca es sacudido;
es la estrella para toda nave errabunda,
cuyo valor es desconocido aunque se mida su altura.

El amor no es juguete del Tiempo, incluso si rosados labios y mejillas]

el valor de su ayuda no se cuenta.

No es payaso del Tiempo: aunque la cara
se aje con las arrugas de los años
el buen amor no pone mala cara
y hasta el final se aguanta todo el daño.

Si otra cosa más pensás y me es probado
yo no soy el que soy, y nadie ha amado

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? 
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

By chance, or nature's changing course, untrimm'd;

But thy eternal summer shall notfade
