President Rafael Correa has not caused a positive impact in Ecuador because of the conflictsbetween social classes, the concentration of powers of state and the decreasing freedom of speech.
Since his presidency the conflicts between social classes have increased. We all know the famous term“Pelucones” that is very commonly used by the president in his broadcasts every Saturday; these broadcasts have become very offensive, instead of talking about the country and all the progress of thenation, he only starts to attack his opponents, especially people from Guayaquil and those in the upper class. Carlos Baquerizo, president of the “Junta cívica de Guayaquil”, said: “The presidentdeserves all the respect and consideration, but that does not give him the right to offend anyone”. All these actions of hatred make poor people start to hate the upper class for everything that theyhave, when all the things that they own is because of their hard work. Correa has shown that he supports the lower class, and that is good, but he supports them by giving them “benefits” such as thebenefit of poverty, of human development, housing, among others. When he only gives money to people instead of jobs that increases the laziness in the country. As a Chinese proverb says, “Give a man afish and you feed him for a day, teach him to fish and you feed him for the rest of his life”.
Another aspect about his presidency is the concentration of powers of the state; the five powers(Executive, Legislative, The Judicial, Electoral and The power of citizen participation) should be separate and independent from each other, so in that way they can control them, and there is moreregularization between powers.
