The detective story books as define as stories where the main character (most of the time aprofessional detective, sometime a amateur investigator) should resolve some mysterious events as a murdered, where the detective try to discover the murder; a robbery of a very expensive object as famouspaintings, or jewels; or a case of kidnapping, where the protagonist tries to find the hostage. The detective stories are fully of suspense, mystery, action, romance and even sometime of comedy, but themost important aspect is the mystery because this, catch the attention of the readers.
Between the XVIII and XX century existed many writers of detective fiction by examples: Arthur ConanDoyle, Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers, S.S. Van Dine, Rex Stout, Ellery Queen and even Edgar Allan Poe, write some novel about detective fiction, created Auguste Dupin the first fictionaldetective of the history.
Classification
The detective stories can be classified into ``the private eye´´ stories where the main protagonist is a private detective, and explore a city toresolve a crime, but at the same time try to fight against the gangsters and sometime the police; the ``whodunit´´ format where the reader tries to resolve the crime before finished the book; and ``theinverted detective stories´´, where the murder is known in the beginning of the stories and the characters try to get enough evidence to arrest the murder.
