Chapter 15 taught us about teaching different classes: ESP and Business English, teenage classes and large classes.




• ESP: We as teachers need to be prepared for different kind ofclasses. Maybe, we don’t know anything about medicine and we have to teach an ESP course for doctors, so instead of be afraid, we should take this opportunity in a good way that can help us to acquireknowledge. We are just supposed to know English, but we can improve ourselves by reading medicine books or watching videos, etc. We have to be ready to cover our Ss needs.




• Teenage Classes:Even though, teach teenager can be interesting, it can demanding too. We have to keep in mind that they are in a difficult period of life that they don’t know exactly what they want or how the feel.So, we need to put ourselves in their shoes. It’s a good idea to involve them in the topics, ask them what they want learn and motivated them a lot.




• Large Classes: Sometimes we are goingto face with this kind of situation, maybe we are in charge of a big class (60 Ss) and we might have problems to work with them.
(Setting arrangements, discipline problems, lack of interest,etc.) So, we as teachers need to have many ideas to deal with this.











What I’ve learned in this chapter is that we can use different techniques when we work with Ss.(Flashcards, Picture stories, Storytelling, Song and music, GTKY, Fillers, Lexical Games, Poetry, etc).

I think they are very important in order to get Ss interest. For example, when I have done mydemo classes I have always used flashcards and sometimes music and I can say that Ss attentions go to those tools. Not only that, we can use this tools to create interesting activities that are focusesin a specific system or skill.

Furthermore, these activities create a good rapport in the classroom because everyone is involved, so we as teachers need to have a nice “Bag of Tricks”....
