History of Twitter
Twitter is a free micro blogging, which serves as a social network that allows users to send micro-text based entries, called "tweets", with a maximum length of 140 characters.Twitter was born in 2006, a number of young entrepreneurs working for the company Odeo Podcasts, Inc., San Francisco, USA, were immersed in a full day of brainstorming of ideas.
The company OdeoInc., had just made a great contribution to the code of Rails 1.0 and had taken Odeo Studio, but was facing a huge competition from Apple and others. So they were forced to reinvent itself.
As part ofthese meetings, Jack Dorsey suggested an idea where you could use SMS to tell small groups what one was doing. It was an idea to keep a group of informed people about what one was doing.
Once theproject tested several names. The original name for a time was "Status" (Stat.us) through twitch (tic) because the vibration type of phones, but they stayed with Twitter. In the words of Dorsey wasperfect, and the definition was "a short burst of inconsequential information", "chirp of a bird", which in English is tweet.
