o More optimistic about human nature and international system.
o Liberalism is a second imageapproach, neoliberalism is a third image approach.
o Here is now more and more studies on reversed second image (that an institution shapes the domestic politics).
o Traditionalliberalism: In international system, states are NOT alike and unitary. There are different types of states and there are various actors within states that affect the final decision of the state leader ( statesare NO black boxes
o Liberal theory does not make a strict divisions between economic area and political/security area.
