Yerevan "Zvartnots” Airport representing the main air gate of the Republic of Armenia has beenoperating since 1961.
"Zvartnots” Airport envisioned handling of the flights operated solely on the territory of the former USSR.
On 1985 ICAO Granted the airport the second class.
Under the concession agreement signed between the RA Government and Argentinean "Corporacion America” Company, from June 2002 "Zvartnots” International Airport has been handed over to "Armenia” International Airports” CJSCconcession management for the period of 30 years.
To make the Airport meet the international standards its runway was fully repaired, safety, information and check-in new systems were installed, VIP lounges repaired and the construction of the new passenger terminal, the arrival hall of which was introduced to operation on September 14, 2006, started. The departure hall of the new passengerterminal was introduced into operation on May 25, 2007.
In Spring 2008, the construction of the new passenger terminal of public zone has initiated, the termination of which is anticipated in 2011. In the new passenger terminal with the territory of 52.000 sqm, the passenger check-in counters and security control points will be doubled. A new underground parking will be built, with parking area formore than 800 cars. When this terminal is accomplished, "Zvartnots” International Airport will become number one airport in South Caucasus.
Navigation system installed in the airdrome provides the meteorological minima of 30x350m for landing, which corresponds to the ICAO 2nd class.

El Aeropuerto Internacional de Zvartnots(código IATA: EVN, código OACI: UDYZ) está ubicado cerca de Zvartnots, a unos10 km al oeste de Ereván, la capital de Armenia. El aeropuerto fue inaugurado en 1961 y renovado en la década de los 80 con el desarrollo de una nueva terminal. En 1998 una nueva terminal de cargas fue habilitada. En el 2007 una nueva terminal internacional fue inaugurada.
En el 2006, un total de 1.125.700 pasajeros utilizaron el Aeropuerto Internacional de Zvartnots, representando un incremento de 1,3%respecto al año anterior.
Todos los pasajeros que parten al exterior deben abonar una tasa aeroportuaria de 10.000 AMD (unos 30 USD) en la oficina de cambio previo al check-in.
Expansiones recientes y futuras[editar]
En el 2004, la construcción de una nueva terminal internacional empezó, con un costo de $100 millones USD. Cubre un área de 19.200 m² y puede manejar 2 millones de pasajeros alaño. El edificio de esta terminal es parte del acuerdo firmado por el Gobierno armenio en diciembre de 2001, mediante el cual entregaba en concesión el Aeropuerto Internacional de Zvartnots por el término de 30 años a la compañía argentino-americana "Corporation America", propiedad del empresario argentino-armenio Eduardo Eurnekian.
