Calculate The Common Normal Line’s Distance of Single Arc Gear Based on Secant Method

Abstract—The measurement of single arcgear common normal line length, was a basic detection project,which aimed to control the tooth thickness. The method was to compute the common normal line length of two regular changes between the surface,the process is complex. With the single arc gear transmission development drive to high-speed, heavy-duty, highpower, the measurement face a higher demand, we not only needed to improve theexisting measurement methods, calculation and measurement technology, but also strengthed the research of new test method. Just as it was ,We provided a way used secant methord and put forward the calculating principle of the common normal line,the flow chart,the alternating equation .This method was based on the calculating principle and formula of the double arc gear΄s driving and measuring commonnormal Line΄s distance and made 67 arc gear as an example.It creased labor power firmly and the precision was also increased. INTRODUCTION

Arc gear is a new type of developing gear drive in recent years, Some factories,schools and research institutes carry out a lot of study,test and promotion work,and make a great progress in it since1960s .the pinion is convex teeth, the gear is concave in single arc gear drive.There are a series of advantages compare with the involute gear transmission. A.. The Major Advantages of Single Arc Gear Transmission a)big equivalent radius of curvature, high contact strength; b) small friction loss, high transmission efficiency, small tooth wear; c)even wear, easy running-in, good runningperformance; d) no undercutting phenomena, minimum teeth number limited by the strength and stiffness of axis only, Zmin = 6 ~ 8; e) vibration noise small than involute gear drive, and manufacturing process is simple. Engineering practice has proved that the carrying capacity of single arc gear is higer 1 to 1.5 times than involute gear under the same geometric parameters conditions. In view of the aboveadvantages ,the single arc gear has an increasing universal important in industry sector in many countries, China

The pinion is convex tooth, the gear is concave tooth.The center of convex tooth profile lies on the pitch circle, the center of concave tooth profile lies out the pitch circle,and the radius ρ2 of concave tooth higher than the radius ρ1 of convex tooth.In theory, the two tooth profile are point contact, so circular tooth gear is also called arc point meshing gear.
