Politically, authoritarian four empires collapsed, which profoundly transformed the map of Europe, redesigned by the peace treaty of 1919:
 Tsar's Empire was transformed into communist Russia (later the USSR),
 The Ottoman Empire was dissolved giving way to Turkey (Anatolia and Constantinople)
 Austria-Hungary was dissolved, giving way to the states of Austria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia andYugoslavia as independent countries,
 German Empire ended and was replaced by the Weimar Republic, that Germany would rule on a territorial and economically undermined by the payment of war reparations.
New global political balance. Although the colonies provided food, raw materials and athletes to their metropolis, after the war the colonial peoples began to question its ties with themetropolis and demanded an improvement in their situation. This, coupled with the progress of nationalism within the colonies, constitute the process of decolonization after the war begin and end with the independence of several current states after World War II. This first decline of European influence in the colonies, joined the expansion of the United States, the biggest beneficiary of the war withJapan, would reconsider their isolation from world affairs, and that along with the Japanese Empire would have a place high on the international scene.
Political consequences in Germany. The five treaties after the war, mainly signed at Versailles, caused an atmosphere of oppression towards the vanquished. The new republican Germany suffered the consequences of the German Empire and its economy Wasexploited by the victors. Thus arose both leftist and rightist argument to end this situation. The blows against the system began when, in 1921, communist militias rose in Munich. The revolt was put down. Adolf Hitler blamed the German Marxists of the German surrender, citing as evidence the progressive constitution of Weimar and then armistice. When Hitler was still in the trenches, the Germanmilitary to civilian convinced that the war could be won, while politicians confessed that surrender was inevitable. But Hitler argued this thesis in the National Socialist German Workers and with it went the so-called Beer Hall Putsch of 1923 against the seat of government. The military coup was crushed and Hitler committed to prison for eight months. However, in January 1933Hitler was appointedchancellor by President Paul von Hindenburg and the October 14, 1933 won the elections, so they came to the German parliament.
