The Reason why Midsummer’s Night Dream is by far my favorite Play of Shakespeare
After reacowding William Shakespeare’s play Midsummer’s night dream, I almostimmediately knew that this play was going to be one of my favorite ones because it is not like the rest of Shakespeare’s stories in which you are just waiting for the bad moment to comeand everything ends up badly and life is a complete drama.
I think this play is more like real life, despite the fact that dreams and fantasy are important themes in the play; as weread, we can notice that the way in which all incidents develop within the story are just as they happen in real life, were things change not because of magic, but because of the passingof time and in most of the cases, things that appeared to be impossible occur just because, without a logic explanation.
The main themes of the play are dreams, as the title says,and love; here Shakespeare, as in most of his plays, talks about the difficulty of love, but the nice thing of this story is that unlike other Shakespeare’s plays, in this one he presentsus those love troubles with certain sense of humor, something that made me think that we should not take everything in life so seriously and that we gain nothing by caring too much inthose complex things of life, because they will end up as they have to, call it God’s will or call it what you want.
Another thing that I liked about this play is thatShakespeare here depicts the effects love has on us just as they are; when we think we have fallen in love or when we actually did, we become weird people, unreasoning, erratic, we act bizarre(like Titania when she “fell in love” with Bottom) and it is when we open the eyes and all that magic of love goes away that we realize things as they are and everything begins to make sense.
