SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT CURRICULUM

Introduction

The Curriculum will be developed to multiply the information and facilitate the participation of volunteers andcommunity members. It will use the “Tran-the-Trainers” or “Promoters” format that facilitates the training of qualified volunteers or sustainability students willing to work with community members. EachTrainee will have a more advance information on each topic, but will have a simple a manual to follow up and material to provide to their groups and they will facilitate the sessions to groups of 10plus participants.
It is a multiplying process, it starts with the trained volunteers who transmit the info to community members; at the same time the recipients will facilitate education to theirfamily members. Children and young adults are taught many of these topics at school, but if parents at home are unaware or ignore these issues and all the possible solutions, the kids cannot put inpractice what they had learn. Furthermore, children learn by example that these issues are not important or that it is OK to ignore them.
In order to implement this program, it will need the supportand partnership of agencies that are working towards a better world through a greener living, a sustainable development, community services and agencies that focus on regenerating a damage world forfuture generations.
Mission
Provide information and resources about Sustainable Development and Climate Change alternatives to a broad number of community members, empowering neighborhood’s residentsand creating new opportunities for community involvement and action taken through education.

Objectives
1. Outreach, recruit, and educate youth and adults on Sustainable Development andClimate Change through a series of sessions. (Approximated 7 to 8 2-hour Sessions; once per week)
