2 A hurricane is a gigantic storm that forms in the southern Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, or in the eastern Pacific Ocean. Hurricanes normally take placefrom June to November. Hurricanes move in a circular direction around the eye of the storm. These storms contain lightning, rain, and power.
3 The weather service gives hurricanes names. The first ofthe season begins with the letter A , the second with a B, and so on. For example, for storms over the Atlantic Ocean 2007 the names are Andrea, Barry, Chantal, Dean, Erin, Felix, Gabrielle, Humberto,and so on.
4 Hurricanes usually happen in the tropics, and they normally travel in the same directions.
5 Hurricanes are categorized into 5 levels, from category I (not dangerous) to category 5(evacuation necessary). Hurricanes centers track the storms and try to predict were it will hit.6 Hurricanes are quite common insome areas of country. If there is a hurricanes warning for your area, you should make preparations to evacuate.
