This includes the specification, selection, inspection and use of all components that might be used in a drillstring. This manual should be read in conjunction with the other manuals in the Drilling and Production Operations Manuals suite. This manual must be read in conjunction with the latestedition of ‘DS-1™ Drillstem Design and Inspection’ by TH Hill Associates Inc. This particular document provides specific and very detailed design, operational and inspection information that is not issued in the Repsol manual. The relevant API standards, recommended practices and bulletins must also be available to drillstring designers and operations personnel. Copies of the DS-1™ document may beobtained from your usual supplier of oilfield literature or direct from TH Hill Associates at: TH Hill Associates Inc 7676 Hillmont Suite 360 Houston Texas 77040 USA Telephone: +1 713 934 9215 Facsimile: + 1 713 934 9236 Email: mail@thhill.com The Repsol manual is not intended to provide a complete rulebook universally applicable in all circumstances and operating environments. It must not replacesound judgement based on a thorough knowledge of well design principles or a detailed knowledge of a particular situation or specific field. Nevertheless, it is recommended that the manual should be adopted as standard practice and deviations should be employed only in special circumstances that have been carefully considered and approved by management. Users of this manual are reminded that nopublication of this type can be complete, nor can any written document be substituted for qualified engineering analysis. It should be stressed that certain operations will require detailed and frequently site-specific operational procedures. This manual is not intended to replace more detailed procedures and vendor manuals, which remain the source of reference for technical specialists....
