Cada figura tiene unvalor, en relación con la unidad, que es el PULSO o NEGRA.

Cada figura tiene su correspondiente SILENCIO, que dura lo mismo que su figura, pero sin sonido.

La relación que existe entre lasfiguras es de doble y mitad, siendo cada figura el doble de la siguiente de menor duración y al revés, cada figura es la mitad de la siguiente de mayor duración.
