Thefirst day in this city was completely wonderful! This is because my host father introduced me to everyone he knew. I met all of his family and his friend Oscar, who is the ownerof a very popular restaurant. When I saw him I was very excited, because he was a friend that my father knew when he was in Santiago. In that moment, I remembered that he hadbeen the chef of a restaurant (my father had told me) and he knew how to cook my father’s favorite dessert, which is called strawberry shortcake. So I ordered a piece of cakeand it was the most delicious dessert that I had ever tasted in my life. However, something weird suddenly happened, because while I was eating it a huge spider appeared frominside it! Then, all the people who were there started to laugh, because it was a chocolate spider.
Yesterday, I visited three cultural museums with another exchange studentand there we learned a lot about the history and the culture of this city. After, we wanted to meet new people and share some experiences, so we went to the Plaza de Armas. After a long time, we were very angry because we had been waiting so long for someone to talk to, but nobody identified our presence, so we decided to dress up as clowns and westarted to dance. It was absolutely ridiculous.
Today I’m going to visit the house of Pablo Neruda (the famous Chilean writer) in Isla Negra,. He had three houses which becamemuseums (la Chascona, Isla Negra and la Sebastiana) and you can visit them when you want. I’m looking forward to the visit and I’ll report about it in my next blog entry.
