Conjuring the dead, flying around in broomsticks, the pentagram (a five pointed star enclosed in a circle), a crescent moon, a spiral, a triangle, using voodoo dolls and blood are all signs of something commonly accused during the colonial times. Witchcraft is known as the use of supernatural or magical faculties to do harm against people and their loved ones. Witches are mentioned in the Bibleand that is the reason why Puritans believed in them. The problem is that believing in faith and the Bible is too weak to form a government, and that is shown in the witchcraft problems.

Thousands of people were once accused of witchcraft from the 14th Century until the 19th Century. It was very hard to determine if the accused person was actually doing witchcraft. Most of the cases wereresolved with the use of spectral evidence, that wasn't allowed in those days because of a conflict whether it is true or not. The accusation was that the Devil needs permission to use the shape of the person to be used to afflict damage to somebody. People believed that the devil needed an authorization to take the shape of someone, but as we know the Devil can take the shape of whom he wants withoutneeding an authorization.

The accusations of witchcraft were most commonly against women and in some rare cases against men. There was once a trial because a married couple accused each other of witchcraft. Amazingly enough only the women was sentenced to jail and the men walked without any sentence, but what was the reason for it. During all the time of witch hunt it was commonly believed thatwomen were the only human beings that could use witchcraft. This idea is easily accepted because during all those time women hold lower positions than men in all social, political, and religious matters. The main reason for witchcraft would have been that a woman did witchery against a mean or another woman because she wanted their position. Other motivation is when a married woman accusedanother one because she is aware of his husband activities with her or the other way around.

Most of the witchcraft accusations in the "New World" specifically in the Massachusetts Bay Colony occurred in a society where all of the inhabitants were Puritans seeking for a new beginning. By seeking that new beginning they ended up making it worst, and with all the people regretting for something theydidn't do. The witchcraft accusation destroyed families and confronted them, their desire to follow the Bible in the correct way ended up being the turning point with respect to all the death in the Puritan village of Salem. It is reasonable if some of the men and women that left their home in England would regret making that decision of leaving their beloved house where they didn't have anyproblem with witchcraft. Finally they weren't capable of doing what they were supposed to do by going to America. The government ended up executing almost anyone accused of witchcraft instead of doing something to form a theocracy.

It is difficult to say one country that is a theocracy in this days, except the Holy City. That is difficult because not all the rules can be made close enough to pleasewhat the Bible says. The Puritans government could have turned into a respectable government, but it was doomed with all the witch trials around the entire colony. The government would have lasted until the separation from religion was unavoidable, but that occurred about a hundred years ago. The idea of witchery, even though the Bible says it exist, is difficult to prove because it is only aconfrontation of words without any fact. And when there are those types of accusations it is very probable that a government wouldn't know how to act.

Utopia is a place of ideal perfection especially in laws, government, and social conditions. The problems with witchcraft accusation would create rivalry and strong feelings of vengeance among the people, and the feeling of vengeance makes it...
