The candidates for the next elections are Barack Obama, who us the Democrat candidate, and Mitt Romney, whois the Republican candidate. Barack Obama is currently the president of the United States running again for the presidency. Romney was the Governor of Massachusetts and is running for the first timeto the presidency.

Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 4, 1961 and is the first African-American president of the United States. When he moved to Chicago, he worked with a group ofchurches to help rebuild communities. He then went to attend law school where he became first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. In another, Obama represented a non-profit economicdevelopment group working with landlord Tony Rezko to provide better housing for working-class Chicago residents. Both those associations would hurt Obama in the 2008 campaign.

In 1995, he saw hischance. Alice Palmer, a popular African-American member of the Illinois state senate, was vacating her seat, which included Hyde Park, so that she could run for the US Congress. Obama would aim to succeedher. He was urged not to waste his intellect on petty state politics but to join the University of Chicago law faculty as a full professor. Obama said no: he was running. The upshot of all this isthat Obama can seem aloof. It can be a weakness in a candidate, this distance: some Democrats always feared Obama was too chilly to connect with poorer, blue-collar voters. And it can translate intoarrogance.
Born March 12, 1947 to George Romney, and Leonore Romney, Mitt Romney was born into a politically enveloped family. Mitt went to Boston University for law, and Harvard for business,identifying himself as a businessman.
