With 3,287,590 km2 India is the 7th largest country in the world, having such a large amount of territory India possesses a vast amount of natural resources to exploit for the country’s development.Sadly, it didn’t take much time for already industrialized, powerful nations to realize India’s natural assets. The intention Britain had was never to industrialize or help India; itwas rather to de-industrialize India so that it would work like a kind of agricultural land for the already industrialized Britain, 72% of Indian population worked in agriculture, only 2% worked in anytype of industry. Britain controlled Indian economy for more than 200 years. During this time the economy was shattered and harmed in many ways, resulting in famines, water shortages and thenon-fulfillment of the basic needs of the vulnerable Indian population.
