The painting was made in 1656 by Diego Velázquez, the leading artist of the Spanish Golden Age, We can find in the Museum of Prado in Madrid

It was painting in the Spanish Golden Age, into Baroque. The Spanish Golden Age (Golden Century) is a period of flourishing in arts andliterature in Spain, coinciding with the political rise and decline of the Spanish Habsburg dynasty. The Spanish Golden Age does not imply precise dates and is usually considered to have lasted longer than an actual century. It begins no earlier than 1492, with the end of the Reconquista (Reconquest), the sea voyages of Christopher Columbus to the New World, and the publication of Antonio deNebrija's Gramática de la lengua castellana (Grammar of the Castilian Language). Politically, it ends no later than 1659, with the Treaty of the Pyrenees, ratified between France and Habsburg Spain. The last great writer of the period, Pedro Calderon de la Barca, died in 1681, and his death usually is considered the end of El Siglo de Oro in the arts and literature. The paint is painting with oil on canvas , this is the process of painting with pigments that are bound with a medium of drying oil.

The characters, who look at the portraits, are: Velázquez, Dona AgustinaSarmiento, menina of the Infanta, Infanta Margarita, Dona Isabel de Velasco, menina of the Infanta, Maribárbola, buffoonish and Nicolasito Pertusato. Behind sees Marcela de Ulloa and, for some, Diego Ruiz de Azcona. In the background of Joseph sees grandson of Queen chamberlain, butler and guardadamas.

In “Las Meninas” can be structured in different table spaces. The top half of the work is dominated by empty space, in which Velazquez painted the air. There is also a virtual space where to watch the painter and which are supposed to be kings or spectators. Another important area is the vanishing point of the background of the picture, very bright, where a character runs away from the intimacy of the moment. A fourth area is the small mirror reflecting thekings, and finally, is the space defined by the golden light that can be seen in the figures of the Infanta, Las Meninas, the dwarf and the dog. They are real and virtual spaces that make up the fantastic reality of the picture.

Velázquez, in the composition of his golden section painting Las Meninas, ordered with the spiral, whose center is located on the...
