About Paulo Freire’s Philosophy of Education
Education is an important aspect in our society and as such a term that comes along
with it is knowledge.Paulo Freire clearly states a definitionin his essay " The Banking Concept of Education", which is: knowledge is a gift bestowed by those who consider themselves knowledgeable upon those whom they consider to know nothing. This term isconsidered to be a gift because to obtained it is need to apply interest in learning new things that are used in everyday life.For that matter it means that those who want educate themselves and applyitself can and will obtain knowledge.Meanwhile those that consider that they have already mastered facts,analysis and thoughts will not flourish as much.
What does Freire mean when hesays:“Knowledge emerges only through invention and re-invention, through the restless, impatient, hopeful inquiry human beings pursue in the world, with the world and with each other.” Understanding the concept it iswithout a doubt important to breakdown the thought Freire states.When he talks about invention and reinvention he is referring to understanding, analyzing and applying said thinking and/orfact.Simply is to "munch" word by word until is clear to see the whole picture of that statement and be able to use it in other cases.
Without inquiry, there is no knowledge, without knowledge, there isno learning and without learning there is no analysis.Here is the key to advance in knowledge.According to dictionary.com inquiry means a seeking or request for truth, information, or knowledge.
